The pre-school room caters for children aged 3 and 4 and is designed to prepare them for school. The room encourages children to form good relationships with their peers. Activities are planned to encourage children’s learning of the world around them as well as their own individual interests.

 

Sound and Letter recognition activities are carried out each day, encouraging children to recognise familiar words such as their names and also prepares them for when they are ready to begin writing. Mathematics is included in play as well as focused activities such as number lines, counting games and sorting.

 

The pre-school room is a quieter environment where the children have lots of opportunities to enhance and further their speaking and listening skills. Circle times help to build their confidence in talking about themselves. The children have daily access to the garden area as well as joining the main room children for baking, dancing and plenty of other fun!
